Finding Extra Time
When you are a parent to one or multiple kids, you barely have any time.
Parents of kids with ADHD have even less time with all the doctors appointments, occupational therapy, school IEP/504 meetings, and pediatrician visits. For parents of multiple kids, it can seem unfathomable with how to fit everything in within a day.
When you’re managing all of these appointments, life can get overwhelming really quickly.
Although I don’t have kids myself, other things have taken up my time from grad school to work and family in ways that have tested my patience. One thing I have learned is it is less about how much time I have, and more about focusing on how I am spending my time.
The only way I have found to manage my time effectively is by focusing on aligning my time with my values. When I am feeling more overwhelmed, I stop living according to my values and spend less time thinking about how to incorporate them into my daily life. Using this type of approach doesn’t even require you to take extra time out of your day. It just requires that you focus on how you are spending your time.
Here’s how you can use values to align your time in a way that feels better:

Each day or week, examine how you are
For me, spending time outside and in nature is an important value. So each week, I spend time on either a walk (if time is limited) or go on a hike.
Finding ways to make extra time as a parent is really important. One way I help parents is through my membership where you can go through past recorded trainings on your time, or join live trainings each month.
